I am so envious

The production value of your music is always incredible. It's so professional yet it doesn't deviate from your creativity (as if you went to a studio and had it professionally recorded, edited, but didn't follow any of their 'suggestions' to make it sound like everything else that's selling). That and the melodies are always great.

I dig the phasered drums around 0:23 (sounds like something I would do).
After I get this massive project I'm currently working on out of the way, I'm going to make my next animation (hopefully) feature your music exclusively to get your name out some more because you seriously are my favorite musician in general.

spamwangler responds:

that would be awsome:) thanka dude.

i dont have any internet at my house at the moment, but i should do some time soon, if you want any custom tunes done, give me a pm!

I dug the intro

Up to about 1:00 and when it starts heading out around 2:15 are my favorite parts. The middle part needed something more than just changing keys, which is a big sign of 'oh shit I made this sound awesome but I have no damn clue what to do with it now.'

That's totally understandable. We have all been there. Personally I've found it's better to make shorter songs than draw out a cool idea past its welcome.

All in all, though, I really enjoyed this.

Nice!

Starting at about 1:24 to the end = epic credit music that I intend on using sometime in the future (maybe soon I dunno).

spamwangler responds:

cool! i look forward to hearing it.

if you want it altered in any way, speed, lengths, sound

let me know!

Nifty

Oh man I love this shit where the music 'goes where it's not supposed to' but executes it well (that's how I exclusively used to write music when I smoked a lot of herb - you all haven't heard much of that yet).

Anywho keep writing and btw, I haven't had time to write anything lately (and everything I've fiddled with was ho hum) but I still fully intend to do a collab song in the future.

spamwangler responds:

cool, ive just been listening to your recent submissions and i sure am up for a collab.
ive spent the last two weeks of my spare dragging musical equipment up and down a hill thats only a few degrees shy of being a cliff, so i haven't been too productive niether

Did you go to a carnival recently?

You've been writing some odd carnival-related stuff today. While not bad...it's....odd.

spamwangler responds:

ive been in a silly mood today

too much sugar probably

Sounds like a soundscape.

I'm not really a big fan of soundscapes (especially ones at carnivals), however, for what it is, it's good and deserves a much better score than what it has.

spamwangler responds:

i think people are probably a bit pissed off at the ending

Very Final Fantasy-esque

I could easily see this as some broad's theme song in Final Fantasy 54.

Can't wait to hear the fuller version (I would say start it with the piano solo, hint that there are other instruments around 0:40, and then go all out with the orchestra at 1:04. Anyway, great theme, great chord progression, and there isn't much I can say except good job!

kelwynshade responds:

I appreciate it. My inspiration was actually the theme song "To Zanarkand" from FFX. The full version is so far pretty much what you're looking for. Piano solo into light strings which progress into full strings and choir and then settle back slowly into piano.

Glad you liked it.

Sound's like happy.

If I could sing I'd probably try and add lyrics to this. It sound's like what I'd expect to hear for background music in a 90s movie (also sounds like a riff used in many songs I've heard before but that's pretty unavoidable when it comes to guitar music).

beans384 responds:

Well i hope someone DOES take it and add lyrics to it. That would be awesome. Thanks for the review!

Not exactly what I'd expect from the title

It seems a little amateurish in delivery, but melodically it's a good idea. The beginning reminds me a bit of how the synth music in 'A Clockwork Orange' sounded and that's pretty cool.

I'd say this song would sound way better if some of the synths were replaced with more realistic-sounding instruments (strings especially). Or start off with the syth sound and then kick in a realistic orchestra when it starts picking up.

Overall, the music is great, but I would find better samples and try fixing it up / tweaking it a bit.

CatsomStudios responds:

thanks!

Sweet!

I really like the bass line / drum beat in this one (I'm not 100% thrilled with the top organ melody, but it's cool - I downloaded it so I could chop out a couple of the beats and possibly remix it assuming that's cool).

I just have one question, in downloading it and opening it in cooledit, I noticed that it clips a LOT. How the hell does it sound so clean when the audio is supposed to be really distorted?

spamwangler responds:

you can sample any of my stuff good sir.

as for the clipping issue im not sure.

i usually mix stuff down louder that i should, but it shouldnt be doing that.
something to do with when i converted it to mp3 prehaps?

i can send you the original wav. file if you like, pm me

I specialize in music but have been known to make a good flash or two.
