Piano in the darkness (Loop)

"Nice"

date: August 16, 2008

Personally I would add the tiniest bit of a delay effect on the whole thing. Overall this would be excellent in any sad scene, HOWEVER!

I had this on while I was watching some youtube video of some kid on a modified powerwheels and the contrasting elements of this song and that scene really made for an eerie combination.

I wouldn't call it denial as it has somewhat of an uplifting overtone to it. All in all a great piano piece (apart from the ending). I think maybe having the top notes trickle out in 3's (best way I can describe it without demonstrating) would help end it better instead of a quick fade.

The production value of your music is always incredible. It's so professional yet it doesn't deviate from your creativity (as if you went to a studio and had it professionally recorded, edited, but didn't follow any of their 'suggestions' to make it sound like everything else that's selling). That and the melodies are always great.

I dig the phasered drums around 0:23 (sounds like something I would do).
After I get this massive project I'm currently working on out of the way, I'm going to make my next animation (hopefully) feature your music exclusively to get your name out some more because you seriously are my favorite musician in general.

the edge (band demo)

"Not bad, but"

date: July 17, 2008

Ima gonna have to go with the rest of the reviews with the vocals. Yes they're pretty good but they they sound like they fit in a completely different song. The way the music goes in this song completely dictate someone singing like James Brown/that lead singer of sublime guy/etc...

a.k.a. lively and sliding up and down notes like it's fun. The way the singing goes in this song sounds like they would fit more in a ballad than something with a funky background.

Author's Response:

hey jig, hows it going?:)

i agree with you about livleying up the singing, and running up and down the notes a little more. i will pass that on!

XP- Odyssey

"I dug the intro"

submission: XP- Odyssey

Up to about 1:00 and when it starts heading out around 2:15 are my favorite parts. The middle part needed something more than just changing keys, which is a big sign of 'oh shit I made this sound awesome but I have no damn clue what to do with it now.'

That's totally understandable. We have all been there. Personally I've found it's better to make shorter songs than draw out a cool idea past its welcome.

All in all, though, I really enjoyed this.

This is pretty well arranged and sounded sort of like background music in an early 90s movie (especially due to how the guitar sounds).

My only suggestion is that I think it would sound better if it were 'harder' like using more powerful guitar distortion(s), more industrial type drums, etc.

Oh, and it loops rather nicely as well.

Author's Response:

From the first few words I read I knew you were a professional critic. Well, thanks mate, I'll keep that in mind, I just couldn't find any more harder guitar distortions D:

Need to get a full version of the program :D

Thanks anyway ^^

Oh man I love this shit where the music 'goes where it's not supposed to' but executes it well (that's how I exclusively used to write music when I smoked a lot of herb - you all haven't heard much of that yet).

Anywho keep writing and btw, I haven't had time to write anything lately (and everything I've fiddled with was ho hum) but I still fully intend to do a collab song in the future.

April 1, 2008

Author's Response:

cool, ive just been listening to your recent submissions and i sure am up for a collab.
ive spent the last two weeks of my spare dragging musical equipment up and down a hill thats only a few degrees shy of being a cliff, so i haven't been too productive niether

I'd personally vary it up a bit more. I like the variation with the pizzicato a lot.

March 15, 2008

Author's Response:

i like the mellow repetition, but its good to hear opinions.
also, thx for letting me use it, it works great as a beat

i'd rap over it, but this is the type of beat i can't rap over

shek
